PRIVACY POLICY

Riverport Insurance Company and its designated affiliates Riverport Insurance Services, LLC and Berkley Risk Administrators Company, LLC (“Riverport”), is proud of and continually strives to earn the strong, long-term relationships we have with our clients.  The following statement of our Privacy Policy—and how we generally treat information shared with us—is directly related to the trust and confidence our clients place in us.

Why We Collect Personal Information.

Personal information is information that identifies an individual personally.  Personal information includes but is not limited to such information as name, address, credit history, social security number, policy or claim information and health information.

We collect and use personal information for business purposes with respect to our insurance products and services and other business relations involving our customers.  We gather personal information to evaluate requests for insurance, to evaluate insurance claims, to administer, maintain or review an insurance policy, and to process insurance transactions.  We also accumulate certain information about customers as may be required or permitted by law.

The customer’s insurance agent or broker also collects personal information and may use it to help with the overall insurance program or to market additional products and services.

How We Collect Information.

We may obtain personal information from the following sources:

  • Applications or other underwriting forms.  These forms which may be submitted to us or our affiliates provide us with information we need as part of the underwriting process; this can include such personal information as individuals' names, addresses, social security numbers and any other information about individuals that we are authorized to obtain in order to underwrite and administer policies and claims.
  • Information we obtain from third parties.  The kind of information we may gather from third parties depends on the type of insurance policy or coverage, but may include such personal information as motor vehicle reports, claims reports, credit reports, property inspection reports, and medical records or reports.
  • Information about transactions and experiences with us or with our affiliates.  We develop and maintain individuals’ personal information, such as policy numbers, premium payments and claims history, obtained on the basis of Riverport’s or its affiliates transactions and experiences.

How We Use and Disclose Information

We keep our customers’ personal information private and do not disclose it to others, unless allowed.

We only use personal information for legitimate business purposes, including to service or maintain policies, to effect, process, administer or enforce requested or authorized transactions, or for other purposes as permitted by law.

We may share personal information with our affiliates (i.e. companies that are related to us by common ownership or control), so that they may offer products and services from the W. R. Berkley Corporation group of companies or to analyze our book of business and to consolidate necessary information.

We do not give or sell our customers’ personal information to other non-affiliated companies for marketing purposes.

We may disclose personal information to other persons or companies to help us manage or service our business.  When we do, we require them to use it only for the reasons we gave it to them.  To serve our customers and administer our business including the processing of claims, we may share personal information about customers with unaffiliated third parties, including agents, brokers, other insurance companies, reinsurers, regulators, administrators and service providers and as otherwise permitted or required by law.

How We Protect Information

We use reasonable and appropriate procedural, manual and electronic security controls to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of personal information in our possession and guard against its unauthorized access.  Some techniques we employ, as appropriate, to protect information include locked files, user authentication, encryption, firewall technology and the use of detection software.
